So, I was thinking about a new way for characters to progress in level throughout a game. Here are the basics:
*You gain Milestones instead of levels, which are shared amongst all party members.
*You gain a Milestone after decisive battles against tough foes.
*Each Milestone improves your Health and Damage - nothing else.
*You possess, initially, 1 Status Slot, and you gain a new one every odd-numbered Milestone.
*At Milestone 2, you get an Ability Slot, and another one every even-numbered Milestone.
*You can only have 8 of each slot - at Milestone 16, you no longer get slots.
*Status Slots are filled with Status Cards, which are earned through fights with enemies; they can also be purchased in stores.
*Ability Slots work similarly.
*Status Cards adjust your character's statistics.
*Ability Cards give you new abilities you can use in battle, as well as altering your personal abilities.
