So, I'm gonna participate in the 7 Day Roguelike Challenge this year! Here are my design notes:
The game will use graphical tiles - this isn't 1979 anymore, and most people have graphically enabled computers.
The themes are Temptation and Sacrifice - the player will be followed by a demon who trades power for the character's life-force (grants boons and items in exchange for HP).
Horror themed.
Music and sound (maybe).
Playable using Keypad and very few buttons - smart menus would be nice.
Story - maybe something like hero is trapped in purgatory and is trying to repent for his sins, or something dumb like that.
Limited color palette, like Amon's games (grey, red, and black, mostly).
Focus on avoiding combat instead of reveling in it.
