RPG Attacks

All attacks in RPGs (and, to a lesser extent, all other games) can be classified as one (or a mix) of the following categories:

HURT - Abilities that cause direct damage, and can lead to a character's demise. "ATTACK" is the most common instance of this in an RPG. Summoning fireballs and such also fall into this category.

HEAL - Abilities that remove damage from a character, or that remove hindrances from that character. Basically, these help a character return to a healthier state. "HEAL" is the most common instance of this in an RPG. "ANTIDOTE" is another.

HINDER - Abilities that reduce a character's ability to fight, or cause the character to expire over time. "POISON" is a common RPG instance. Other instances include "BLIND", "SLEEP", and "DEATH". These simply apply a status effect on a character, including instant death. These also include skills that remove beneficial effects.

HELP - Abilities that apply a beneficial effect on a character. "HASTE" is a common instance of this. Boosting a character's base abilities are also in this category.
